ANy Thoughts on This One?

Good Morning Gents,

I have a 2006 1.9cdti Zafira with 120k on the clock.

A couple of weeks ago after giving it a bit of peddle on the M5 I had the spanner light come on the dash. there was no change in the performance of the car.

The following day the EML came on and gave me code 4005 which indicated a problem with the EGR.

I removed the EGR, MAP and checked vacuum pipes. after cleaning the EGR (valve sticking with carbon) and MAP (dirty) and putting it back together the EML cleared and car ran beautifully.

For a few weeks now the cold starting has not been at its best however yesterday morning the glow plug light stayed on noticeably longer at first start and fired up perfectly. As I pulled off the drive the spanner light came on, again no impact on performance.

Checked codes (using peddle test) and the same code is there 4005 although I had not cleared the code from the EGR.

I will plug the diagnostics reader in later today to see if there are any more codes stored.

My question is, why would the glow plug lights suddenly stay on longer and the car start perfectly all of a sudden?

Thanks

Stuart

I think we'll need to see what codes it's giving you this time. Make sure to clear your old ones too - if they come back you will know your original issue was not fully resolved.

Thanks Sultan, I had almost given up on getting a response.

I changed the temp sensor and the fault disappeared but the glow plug light does not stay on more than a couple of seconds and the engine takes a while to fire up..

will check the relay next.

regards

Unfortunately there are more people on here seeking help than able to give out technical help. I know I for one are not that technical!

Anyway, hope you get it sorted.
