My engine warning light came on my 07 1.9 cdti SRI so took it straight to my local dealer who checked it and said it was a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) fault. Something to do with the emmisions getting reinjected into the engine and it was clogged up. But seemed strange as not so old car to have this problem. They quoted £950 to replace the unit and was wondering if anyone had advice on what to do. Have heard about driving it above 2,000 rpm for 20 minutes to clear filter or just take the hit?
Comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

It seems a clogged up DPF is common, qashqai's have it as well. The most common advice is that a good hard drive on a motorway will clear it.

I had a similar problem and my dealer replaced the DPF at a cost of £800, they then phoned to say the car still was still not performing and needed a DPF sensor. The sensor replacement seems to fix the problem. Get them to check the sensor first.
