Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.
I have read and commented on this and other forums about gearbox issues with the 1.9 cdti 150 gearbox.
My gear stick moves quite a lot when I accelerate and slow down.
It has done this from when I bought the car over a year ago.
I am now reading that this means the gearbox is on it's way out because a bearing has come loose.
Has anyone had experience with this and if it is a problem can it be repaired by a home mechanic before the gearbox fails completely.

hi,there is just ONE bearing that wears, and if left will chew all the other gears up so get it changed asap,it can be done by a home mechanic if he is clever and knows what he is doing, repairing means splitting the box but make sure you can get all the parts needed before trying,i think there is a thread on "astraownersnetwork" site telling how it's done with piccy's,
myself i would leave it to someone who knows what they are doing as special tools are needed.rick.

Hello there my car was doing the same thing as what you have explained but it did it for about a week and now I don’t have reverse 1st gear or 6th gear I was wondering if this happened to you or if you managed to find your issue
