I hadn't seen your post yet, but if it is of any help to you (it may not be like, but hey ho!
) I was never that impressed with the standard fitted Blaupunct CD30 that was in my Zaf, so I ended up changing it for my own one?
All i needed for that was a new surround/face plate to go into the large square hole left after removel of the old head unit, and a set of adapted radio leads, and an aerial adaptor - all are available from Halfords for a total of about £40 all told.
The cables were a sinch to fit myself, as was the aerial adaptor, and the radio faceplate/surround simply clipped into the existing head unit hole. Once the surround was in and secured, all I had to do then was to fit into that the metal cage for my new cd/radio/mp3 player head unit.
Once i had all the bits i needed, the job took about ten minutes in all to do.
