Hey all. 57 Zaffy diesel 150bhp cdti sri.
So...had new rear discs and pads installed on both wheels. 2 days later, the dust shield (aka backing plate or sh1t shield) came loose on the drivers side. Pulled over and ripped it off myself. Went back to garage that did brakes(going there for years, never let me down), they said back plates are nit essential and just ignore it. Week later, clanging sound from passenger wheel. Took it in, they took off the dust plate from passenger side too. Now...bizzare 'hollow' clanging from (what sounds like) rear drivers side. They've checked everything. Balls, joints, brakes, callipers, whats left of dust plates, even rehung exhaust incase it was knocking over bumps. Still a bizarre clang, like and emoty tin can been kicked across a road!

Any ideas? ...MOT due in 9 weeks. Garage said its nothing dangerous as they wouldnt let me drive off if it was!

Springs or bushes.
Noise travels too remember. Especially on beam suspension.

I would think most likely brake pads are moving
