The other morning, when icy, I started my 2014 plate tourer but could not put it into reverse gear. I could move the gear stick forward and back but not side to side. I tried the car a couple of days later while speaking to a after sales people (only had the car 3 weeks) and had no issue getting any gears. On the day the car was due to be collected (it was frosty all day with low temperatures) I tried the car again and had the same problem selecting gears. Since then the mechanic has ran a diagnostic which has shown no faults and taken it for a test drive with no problems. I'm not happy taking the car back and they can't find any problem. Can anyone offer any advice on what the problem could be please?

Could be the gear selector linkage or maybe gearbox oil maybe? I've heard Ford used to put thick gearbox oil in their old cars and they would struggle to put it into gears in cold weather.
