thanks for the reply Robin, yes it is a 1.9 cdtidiesel Zafira Bwith the (150) Z19DTH DOHC engine. i have not noticed the DPF regeneration you speak of. i have however had chance to get under the car and have a look and the only thing i can see that is differant is the fact i now have an oil leak from somewhere around the oil filter housing. couldnt see exactly as it was dark but will have a better look in the morning when i get it up on a lift. i dont know if this is related to the lack of power??? but its only appeared since.

just had the verdict from the mechanic and it needs a new turbo. GREAT!!!!!! NOT!!!!! It did have a small whistle before but just thought it was the turbo spooling up. oh well.

Turbo replaced and all good now. No smoke and plenty of boost.

Still has a slight whistle but I would expect that as the turbo spools up.
