Is this the z16xep engine?

 

Im a little puzzled as to why Halfords replaces what I’m assuming is both lambda sensors, that’s a little shoddy workmanship and a little stupid tbh. I’m going to take a shot and say this will be due to the EGR channels being blocked. Not a massively complicated job for any mechanic, even doable at home with a little knowledge. Mine need cleaned out every 6 months or so. I’m due to do mine again pretty soon if you would like to tackle this yourself I can take a few pictures in a step by step if you like. Only take this on if you have a little knowledge about it as you don’t want to do more harm than good ??

 

Thanks, totally agree about Halfords, I'm convinced its the EGR channels too, unfortunately beyond me, I'm so frustrated I'm giving up on the beastie and trading up.

 

Yeah I agree these can be a pain, but all can have their flaws. Trading up may be a great idea but could also give yourself a whole new set of issues to deal with. I would definitely ask around a few local garages and see if this is a job they may take on. Good luck either way

Also refer to BillyD's #3 post above as cleaning it might work for you (my EGR valve was faulty and could not be cleaned so I bought an EGR Blanking Plate off e-bay for £5.49).
